Cassandre Berthon began violin studies at the age of four at the Marseille Conservatory and started to take singing lessons at the age of 16. After having successfully participated in national and international singing competitions, at the age of 18 she decided to pursue a professional career as a singer.
Since she has been 20 years old, she performed on numerous theatre and festival stages such as Opéra Comique de Paris, Capitole de Toulouse, Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, the opera houses of Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Antwerp and Ghent, Liège, Lausanne, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Halle, Köln, Düsseldorf and has furthermore been invited by the most prestigious opera houses, such as Opéra national de Paris, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Opéra de San-Francisco, New York-City-Opera, Festival of Aix-en-Provence, the Salzburg Easter and Summer Festivals and the Savonlinna Festival.
Among the roles that have most influenced her career are Cherubino (Nozze di Figaro), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Nozze di Figaro), Iphigénie en Aulide, the title role of Véronique, Enfant (Ravel – L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Massenet’s Cendrillon, Gilda (Rigoletto) and parts such as Octavie in Massenet’s Cléopâtre, Henriette de France (I Puritani) and Crobyle (Thais).
Cassandre Berthon can be heard on several recordings, including “Celebrating Offenbach” published by the label “Opera Rara”, “Charpentier & Molière: Hommage Pastoral au Roi Soleil” with the ensemble Amarillis and “L’Etranger” by Vincent Dindy (Festival in Montpellier) with her husband Ludovic Tézier in the role of Vita. DVDs releases include Orphée aux Enfers (Opéra de Lyon), L’incoronazione di Poppea (Festival d’Aix) and Le nozze di Figaro (Opera national de Paris).
Recent engagements include a recital with Ludovic Tézier at the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Rigoletto and Massenet’s Manon (Pousette) at the Opéra national de Paris, Thaïs in Montecarlo, Il trovatore at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Recent highlights include a recital with Ludovic Tézier at the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Rigoletto and Massenet’s Manon (Pousette) at the Opéra national de Paris, Thaïs in Montecarlo, Il trovatore at the Teatro Real in Madrid as well as Thais in Paris and a gala concert at the Savonlinna Festival.
Among others, future engagements take her back to the Opéra Bastille in Paris and the Teatro Real Madrid.
